Rabindra Nath Tagore Jayanti

"You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water"
 -Rabindra Nath Tagore

Rabindra Jayanti is annually celebrated cultural festival, prevalent among Tagorephiles (people who love Tagore and his works) around the world, in the remembrance of Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday anniversary. He was a prominent figure regarded as a poet, philosopher, musician, writer, and an educator. He composed the National Anthem of India, which was first performed in 1911 in Calcutta during a Congress convention. In 1913, he became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
To pay tribute to the legend, The Middle Wing of our School held various competitions:
Poetry recitation for Grade VI, Story Telling for Grade VII and Monologue for Grade VIII.
The students came forward with different colours and mesmerized everyone with their voice modulation, gestures and confidence. They recited many poems by Rabindranath Tagore among which the most popular poem ‘Where the mind is without fear’ reminded us his plea to god to keep the country safe from wickedness, when our country was under the British rule. There were also many stories narrated by the students including Kabuliwala  was truly reminiscing. The monologue by the students took us back to our school days. Overall the students were enthusiastic to be a part of this special event.
